The Magic Shop was founded in 1988 by three-time Grammy award winning engineer and producer Steve Rosenthal. His three room facility includes Studio A, the Blue Room and the Red Room.The Magic Shops’ Studio A features a large live sound recording space with three iso-booths an oversized control room for mixing. The Contol room houses its legendary custom wrap-around 56 input Neve 80 Series console with Flying faders automation.Recent Studio A clients include, Coldplay, Sonic Youth, The Hold Steady, and Interpol. Magic Shop also houses the Blue Room, which offers audio preservation and restoration services. The Blue Room and its engineers Steve Rosenthal and Warren Russell-Smith are responsible for the restoration work on “The Live Wire, Woody Guthrie” which won them a Grammy in 2007 for best Historical Album. Clients in the Blue Room include work on releases by John Phillips, The Rolling Stones, and Sam Cooke.
