Grammy News
It is Grammy time and this year the 51st Grammy Award Nominees include three Magic Shop clients.

Coldplay picked up seven Grammy Award Nominations for their album “Viva la Vida” ! We congratulate them as well as Magic Shop engineer Brian Thorn who assisted on the album.


Congrats to Burning Spear who received a Grammy Nomination for Best Reggae Album, for his new album “Jah Is Real”. The album was completed at the Magic Shop in early 2008 with Brian Thorn engineering.


Up for Best Classical Crossover Album is “Olde School” from the East Village Opera Company. We congratulate them along with Magic Shop engineer Ted Young who engineered the album.

In Session News
In July, The Magic Shop welcomed back Pink who worked on her latest album “Funhouse”. Billy Man produced and mixed, Ted Young assisted.


During August, Patti Smith and Flea came to the studio to track vocals. Brian Thorn engineered the project.


She and Him, stopped by for a session in September, Tom Schick engineered while Brian Thorn assisted.


Bat for Lashes tracked in the studio during September for her upcoming untitled album. David Kosten engineered and produced with Brian Thorn assisting.


Late September, Head Automatica stopped in with engineer Eric Emm and producer Patrick Ford to work on their new yet to be released album.


Loomis and the Lust worked on their album in October. It is being produced and engineered by Brandon Mason with Brian Thorn assisting on the project.


Magic Shop owner Steve Rosenthal along with Don Fleming produced, Jenni Mulduar’s new album “Dearest Darlin’. It will be released early next year. Warren Russell-Smith mastered the album in the Blue Room at the Magic Shop.
