During July, The Magic Shop welcomed
Norah Jones who tracked for her newest release, 'The Fall'. The
album was released November
17th on EMI's Blue Note Records. Jacquire King produced and engineered,
Brad Bivens was the additional engineer and Brian Thorn assisted.

In August, Shine Down came to the studio to record an iTunes
Exclusive EP.
In September, Diane Birch tracked, mixed and mastered an iTunes
Exclusive. Brian Thorn engineered and Jessica Thompson mastered
the session in the Red Room.

Producer Jessie Harris returned to the studio with artists, Port
of Notes.
Later in September, Jessie Harris returned to track with artist
Yuichi Ohata. Tom Shick engineered with Brian Thorn assisted.
Happy Ending tracked and mixed their upcoming album 'Turn it
On'. Jimi Zhivago produced and Brian Thorn mixed and engineered,
with Kabir Hermon assisting.
This fall Steve Rosenthal mixed five unreleased tracks for
the The Rolling Stones in concert 'Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out!' 40th
Anniversary
Box Set. The box set was produced by Jody Klein and Teri Landi
of ABKCO Records. Ted Young assisted on the mixes.

Steve Rosenthal mixed four bonus tracks for the new Dolly Parton
'Dolly' box set. The four cd box set was release October 26,2009
on Sony Legacy Recordings. It was produced by Rob Santos.

IN BLUE ROOM MIXING NEWS
In October, The Magic Shop introduced a second console to the
studio. The Blue Room now hosts a Neve 5088. We are currently
offering the room as a low cost alternative for mixing in the
box and as a room where finished mixes can be re-stemmed. Photographed
below are Josh Thomas, Steve Rosenthal, Rupert Neve, Blue Room
engineer Warren Russell-Smith and the Neve 5088. On October
10th, The Magic Shop hosted a party to welcome Rupert Neve.

RED ROOM RESTORATION PROJECTS
Restoration
engineer Warren Russell-Smith and Magic Shop owner Steve Rosenthal
completed
work on the Alan Lomax Haiti
Field-Recordings.
Made in 1936-1937 are now being released as a 10- disc box
set, along with a journal and other artifacts from his trip
to Haiti. These Alan Lomax Recordings are part of the ACE Repatriation
Project were selected for an award by the Clinton Global Initiative.
